Interview & photo: FIA Karting

As we turn the page and close the 2020 season it’s hard to not look back without a great feeling of accomplishment and pride for what the entire professional karting industry has achieved and overcome. In such times of uncertainty, and global confusion our sport managed to keep the wheels in motion and complete practically the entire 2020 karting season. Despite the ban of spectators and entertainment on track, no one who was present in the paddock can deny the season was filled with emotions.

Three years ago, we began our journey as the Promoter of the FIA Karting European and World Championships. After we completed the first year, I remember writing the text for the yearbook stating it’s a year I will never forget…. undoubtfully 2020 surely will be the year I will never forget. Despite the difficulties, there has been a tremendous number of positives. Those positives that stay with me most is the unity we have created with so many in the paddock, from teams, staff, organizers, Drivers, and parents who have all endlessly committed themselves to the sport of karting purely out of passion.

Moving on from 2020 and looking into the future we are delighted to have had our contract with the FIA extended, to continue our work for the FIA Karting Championships and help develop the sport positively. With the current situation the world is under we remain conscious that our primary goal and target for 2021 is to ensure that professional karting Competitions continue, and the wheels keep on spinning.

More than ever, without the dedicated support of the families involved, the teams, and all the staff and personnel in front and behind the scenes from the circuits, FIA, and RGMMC nothing would have been possible. For that, I am forever grateful to have been part of the community and wish to thank everyone who has been involved in making 2020 an absolute sporting success.

Stay well, Stay safe & See you all in 2021!
