The final race of the weekend in Mini 60 delivered some thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles between the youngest drivers of the WSK Super Master Series. Prefinal A winner Kean Berta Nakamura (KR/IAME) escaped well from pole position but couldn’t long contain the charge from Gerasim Skulanov (IPK/TM) who took the lead right from the opening lap, followed by German Foteev (Energy Corse/TM).

The latter started losing momentum, which allowed Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/TM) to jump into third place, soon turned second, then first when the UAE driver went past Skulanov at the end of the third lap. The Russian would not let his rival get away and fought back on the next lap, taking a charging Nakamura with him! Unfortunately for the Japanese driver, a collision with Foteev less than three laps from the chequered flag put an end to his podium hopes.

The battle for victory raged in the last two laps. Al Dhaheri re-took the lead but failed to maintain his advantage as Skulanov launched a decisive attack that would offer him the win. Kavalkhin eventually emerged from the chaos as runner-up. One week after his “on the edge” win at the WSK Champions Cup, the Russian completed another one-two for Russia in front of a deserving Jimmy Hélias (Tony Kart/Vortex) who had made his way through the field from ninth on the grid.
