Number of tires

At the FIA Karting Championships and Cups (Superkart and Academy Trophy excepted), the number of “slick” tires reserved for Free Practice and Warm-Up is not limited.

During the Qualifying Practice and the Qualifying Heats, 1.5 sets of new slick tires (3 front tires and 3 rear tires) may be used.

A new set of slick tires must be used for the Final. Implementation on 1st January 2020.

Closure of circuits before a competition

At the FIA Karting Championships and Cups (Superkart and Academy Trophy excepted), the circuit will be closed to all Drivers and competition karts for any activity on the track, from the Monday of the week preceding the FIA Karting Competition to the Wednesday of the week in which it takes place. Implementation on 1st January 2020.

This change in the weekend format practically that teams and drivers won’t have the possibility to test on track the week prior to the event where they’ll benefit from just one day of unofficial Free Practice instead of two after that an agreement was found with the Federation. This will also translate into a reduction of costs for the participants.

During the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, the circuit will be closed to all Drivers and competition karts for any activity on the track, from the Monday of the week preceding the FIA Karting Competition to the Thursday (first Competition excepted) of the week in which it takes place. Implementation on 1st January 2020.
