OK: Travisanutto in control

Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR/IAME) completed his almost-clean sweep on French soil this Sunday. Already topping the provisional classification after the Heats, the reigning World champion kept his Kart Republic chassis ahead of a strong pack in both the Prefinal and Final that he won by leading from lights out to the chequered flag. Fourth on the grid, Dexter Patterson (KR/IAME) quickly climbed up the order to second place. The Sauber Junior driver looked strong all weekend but couldn’t find that extra pace to catch up the leader while holding off Forza Racing’s Dilano Van’t Hoff (Exprit/TM) for most of the race. The two eventually finished in that order split by just 0.3 seconds on the line to complete the podium. Matheus Morgatto (Tony Kart/Vortex) followed further back in fourth place ahead of Taylor Barnard (KR/IAME), who started on the front row but lost a few positions in the opening laps.

Thanks to his strong weekend, Lorenzo Travisanutto now sits first in the class standings, 22 points ahead of Dino Beganovic (Tony Kart/Vortex), only 12th in Angerville, followed by Van’t Hoff (85), Barnard (59) and Patterson (58).

OK Junior: Day penalized, Antonelli declared winner

Leader after the Heats, Thomas Ten Brinke (FA Kart/Vortex) took again the win in Sunday’s Prefinal. From Pole, the Dutchman had the best start and built a gap in the opening laps of the Final. Further back, Jamie Day (Exprit/TM) also showed impressive pace by climbing up the order from sixth to second place before taking the lead as early as lap 5. From then on, the Lennox Racing Team driver and Ten Brinke remained close with Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/IAME) keeping an even closer watch from third. On the penultimate of the 17 lap-Final, Day, having briefly lost the first place, fought back in one of the tightest corners of the track, forcing Ten Brinke to go wide onto the grass while defending for the lead. A maneuver which made him lose precious ground, as he crossed the finish line in sixth, and gave a victorious Jamie Day a three-second penalty for causing the contact. Antonelli recovered the win in front of Robert De Haan (Energy/TM) and Laurens Van Hoepen (FA Kart/Vortex) who was rewarded with the last step of the podium after his impressive recovery race from tenth on the grid. Day was eventually classified fourth instead of Christian Ho (FA Kart/Vortex) who fell down the order to 12th due to a front fairing penalty, promoting Ten Brinke inside the top 5.

In the standings, Robert De Haan leads with 116 points ahead of Ten Brinke (106) and Antonelli (105) who both overtook Sarno’s victor Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart/Vortex), ninth this weekend in Angerville.

60 Mini: Macintyre makes it two in a row

William Macintyre (Parolin/TM) confirmed in Angerville his good form of the opening round at Sarno that he had left leading the points standing. Qualified sixth on the final grid, the Team Driver Racing Kart quickly made his way up the field and put himself in the lead on Lap 4 against the likes of Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin/TM), Poleman after his win in the Prefinal B, and Ean Eyckmans (Parolin/TM), the Belgian having past for third place the Prefinal A winner Alex Powell (Energy/TM) at the start. Eyckmans, one of the fastest youngsters of the weekend in France, even took a shot at the victory two laps from the chequered flag before Macintyre went past him again with Al Dhaheri diving through to take the second spot. Behind the top 3, Keanu Al Azhari (Parolin/TM) fought his way through the field from tenth on the grid, followed by Julius Dinesen (Parolin/TM) and Powell.

With two wins in a row, Macintyre tops the class standing with 165 points ahead of Powell (111) and Al Dhaheri (97).
