This Friday was all about qualifying heats for the 418 drivers competing in the 2019 ROK Cup Superfinal in Lonato where track conditions remained dry during most of the day.

In the Super ROK class, Jace started his second heat race from where he had concluded the previous one, in seventh place. Despite a good start that saw him gain one position from lights out until Lap 2, the young American couldn’t keep the pace he would have wanted in the early part of the ten lap-race.

“My second heat race was good but the tire pressure was too low and my chassis didn’t come alive until the last three laps. Finally, I crossed the line in fifth after starting seventh on the grid, which is satisfying.”

“In the third heat, I took a decent start and started making up positions until approaching the mechanics’ corner. That’s where a risky move didn’t go as planned and pushed me back to tenth after contact, but I kept my foot on the throttle and fought my way back up to fifth at the flag.”

A seventh and two fifth-place finishes mean the Ward Racing driver will start tomorrow’s Final from the third row of the grid.

“Today again, the racing was fun with plenty of action! We’ll start the Final from fifth and, looking at our performance level, I think we’ll be in a good position to challenge for the win tomorrow.”
