The Spaniard, who was earlier this month crowned Endurance World Champion (WEC) at the Prize Giving Ceremony of the FIA in Paris, entered the final round of the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship (Sodi World Series) at the wheel of an FA kart n°14 shared with his fellow countrymen and friends Pedro de la Rosa, seen in F1 from 1999 to 2012, Alberto Albilares and Ángel Burgueño.

The fastest in Friday’s qualifying, Alonso gave his team the overall pole position upfront a starting grid filled with a total of 33 teams. Despite showing good pace and consistency throughout the competition, they concluded their weekend on the third step of the podium, clinching the Nations Cup as well as the fastest lap thanks to the former Ferrari F1 driver.

The final victory in this year’s edition of the Dubai Karting 24 Hours went to Emirates Racing n°8 (Arjun Manjunath, Romaldo Labrooy, Ramez Azzam and Tom Bale). This victory also meant the first Pro Championship title for the Emirates Group Karting Club (EGKC) representatives. Bin Drai Karting Team finished in second place ahead of FA Racing in third.

“Fernando Alonso and his friends of FA Racing definitely had their chances to win Round Four overall and they did well to finish third and take home the Nations Cup,” said David Bright, Dubai Kartdrome Manager. “Alonso also claimed Pole Position and the Fastest Lap with a record-setting time of 1:14.839 on the Monaco circuit. The team spirit and professionalism of FA Racing was inspiring to everyone and we look forward to having them back next year.”
