The South Garda Winter Cup is again booming with interest as the number of drivers entering the 24th edition this weekend has reached 319, split into four categories being KZ2 (99), OK (72), OK Junior (90) and Mini ROK (58). Record numbers that confirm the importance of this race which marks the opening of the International season for the famous Italian track near the city of Brescia.

A lot of big names will be present, especially in KZ2 since the circuit of Lonato will be back in the FIA Karting circus when staging the KZ World Championship, KZ2 International Super Cup and the prestigious Academy Trophy for the youngest drivers on September 22nd.

KZ2
 
The entry list in KZ2 is going to be quite exceptional and will feature drivers like World Champions Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart) and Paolo De Conto (CRG), KZ2 International Super Cup winners Matteo Viganò (Tony Kart) and Alex Irlando (who joined BirelArt for this season), but also other great names including former World Cup winner Bas Lammers, Antony Abbasse (Sodikart), Andrea Dalè (CRG), Fabian Federer (Maranello), Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart), Marijn Kremers (BirelArt), Ben Hanley (Croc) and Jeremy Iglesias (Formula K). Two motorsport rising stars will also be present this weekend: Alessio Lorandi and Giuliano Alesi (son of former F1 driver Jean Alesi), who will defend the colors of Parolin before embarking on their upcoming season in Formula 2.

OK
 
In the OK class, reigning FIA Karting World Champion Lorenzo Travisanutto (KR) will have to pull his socks up against 2017 World Junior Champion Dexter Patterson (KR) and 2016 World OK Champion Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG). Sebastian Montoya (Tony Kart), the son of former F1 and Indy driver Juan Pablo Montoya, will also try to mix up the cards. Expectations are also high from rising talents Gabriele Mini’ (Parolin), Luigi Coluccio (BirelArt) and Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG).

OK Junior
 
A lot of promising drivers will compete in OK Junior, starting with this year’s Rosberg Racing Academy protege Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR) and the two sons of motorsport stars Brando Badoer (Parolin) – son of former F1 driver Luca Badoer, and Enzo Trulli (CRG), willing to follow his father Jarno’s footsteps in the future.

Mini ROK

A big battle is also to be expected as usual among the youngsters of Mini ROK (9-12 years) between the likes of Jamaican Alex Powell (Energy), Coskun Irfan, Andrea Filaferro and a lot of other drivers that will give their best all the way to the chequered flag.

Technical partners

KZ and OK classes will use Bridgestone YNB tires, OK-Junior Vega XH2, while Mini ROK Bridgestone YJL. Tires will be checked through a barcoding system in Park Ferme and the fuel used by all categories will be provisioned by Panta.
